As Associate Professor of Music History at the Boyer College of Music and Dance, I teach the full range of Western music history from ancient to contemporary (in other words, banging on rocks to…banging on rocks). But my upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses mostly focus on music of the seventeeth and eighteenth centuries. I also teach, at the graduate level, a research methods course and a survey of current trends in musicology and music theory. Over the years, I have advised more than a dozen M.M. and D.M.A. theses on a wide variety of topics. In addition to the courses listed below, I give lectures, lecture recitals, and master classes for other schools and organizations, most recently for Emory University, The Juilliard School, Amherst Early Music, and the National Flute Association. I also teach private baroque flute lessons to both beginners and more seasoned players, and give pre-concert lectures for chamber ensembles and orchestras.
